Review Of The Book Catcher In The Rye

J.D Salinger’s 1950 novel Catcher in the Rye has many themes that will be of interest to teens today. An interesting background about the author is that he was conceived January 1, 1919. His experiences in WW2 served as a major inspiration. The book is a mixture of brutal truths about the world and humor, with a touch of depression. This book is controversial in its title, but I think it’s a great book due to its brutal truth about the adult world and connection with teens. Holden Caulfield, a teenage who is both emotionally and academically challenged, is the star of this book. He’s also an underachiever with no vision of the future. The book addresses the reader as the beginning of the story and offers insight into the events which took place in the span of three days from December last year. Holden’s story begins in a notorious prestiges high school that holds fakes and phonies. This book is a story about Holden’s time at a notorious prestiges boarding school filled with fakes and phonies. My opinion is that the novel stands out because it uses profanity. Profanity adds an extra dimension to the story, which makes it more human and more real.

This book can provide many useful insights, including the way that depression is reflected and how social pressure is applied when necessary. It was a good book for the most part. It touched on many important topics in our modern age. I was impressed by the way Holden wrote the book. I give the book an 8/10. The importance themes get a 10/10. This book is worth reading for a US literature class. It has so many connections to the US and it is important to realize that you shouldn’t rush your future and that you should live in the now.
